For investors

Own the next generation of food brands — early.

First Run is run by operators who back food and beverage brands from the idea stage — through an accelerator, an angel network, and a fund. If you invest in consumer, we'd like to know you.

The case

Food is not venture capital.

Venture capital was built for businesses where money is the scarce input. Once software works, each new dollar buys efficient growth. Food is the opposite. It needs more capital — inventory, manufacturing, freight, trade — and thin margins punish every mistake. The difference is what the capital buys: in software, money scales something that already works; in food, money without knowledge mostly buys faster mistakes.

So the edge isn't the size of the check. It's knowledge, experience, and pattern recognition — the kind that only comes from being in the business, watching hundreds of founders, and understanding why one product moves off the shelf while another sits untouched six inches away.

Why now

Capital left. The buyers didn't.

The money that built consumer has moved to AI — while the brands keep getting built, and keep getting bought.

~2/3
of U.S. venture dollars went to AI last year, pulling capital out of consumer.
400+
food & beverage brands are acquired every year by strategics and private equity — in good markets and bad.
Every economy
People keep eating. Demand is durable, and reshuffling toward better-for-you brands.

Why First Run

Closest to the work.

You can't tell which brand will endure from a conference room. You have to be in the business.

Operators, not financiers

We've built and scaled consumer businesses from zero. We put that operating experience to work for the brands we back — and bring it to the table when we evaluate any deal.

Early access

Our accelerator has helped build 250+ consumer brands since 2014. That proximity lets us see what works first — and back conviction before the market reprices it.

Pattern recognition

The same signals that tell us which brand in our own building will endure tell us which brand anywhere will. We've watched products succeed and fail at scale, and it travels.

Our community

A network that backs founders early.

First Run brings together founders, operators, and investors who back the next generation of food and beverage brands. Members invest at the point of conviction, get close to the brands coming through our ecosystem, and join us at demo days, founder dinners, and tastings.

It's a community built around proximity to the work — the people building what America eats next, and the people backing them.

  • Access to the ecosystem — brands from the idea stage forward, before the market is looking.
  • Invest at conviction — back brands once they've proven out, alongside operators who know them.
  • Events & community — demo days, founder dinners, and tastings with the people building the category.
  • Operator insight — the same pattern recognition we bring to every brand we build.
How it works

Start with a conversation.

Introduce yourself. Tell us a little about you and how you invest. A real person reads every note.

We get to know each other. We'd rather build a real relationship than send a deck. We'll talk about the thesis, the ecosystem, and what you're looking for.

If there's a fit, we go deeper. Detailed materials are private and shared directly with accredited investors we know — through conversation, not a public page.
